Juventus took a huge step towards the Champions League semi-final as they beat Barcelona 3-0. Juve who have an impressive home record took apart the listless Spanish champions. Goals from Paulo Dybala
Dybala Steals The Show
Paulo Dybala has grown into his role at Juventus. The Argentine is tipped for great things in the future and showed us exactly why. Unfazed by the comparisons to Messi, Dybala tormented the Barca defense all night. His two goals were vital for Juve as they secured a commanding 3-0 win. Dybala is evolving into Juve’s talisman and the front-man has immense ability for his age. Rumors of move to Barcelona seem inevitable but Dybala certainly isn’t doing his glowing reputation any damage with such performances.
Barca’s Defense Fails Again
Barcelona’s defenders have been exceptionally poor this campaign. Their blushes after the 4-0 loss to PSG may have been saved but Barcelona need heavy investment in defense. Samuel Umtiti has been the only Blaugrana defender to impress this season. Jeremy Mathieu simply isn’t good enough, Mascherano is past his prime and Pique has struggled for form. Luis Enrique’s decision to play 3 defenders didn’t help the cause either leaving the back-line exposed.
MSN Toothless
The famed MSN trio were left frustrated at Juve limited the chances they had. Neymar and Messi weren’t given any space to operate as the Juventus wing-backs had an excellent game marking them. Luis Suarez’s delivery was also restricted by the formidable duo of Bonucci and Chiellini. Italian defense came out on top as Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical masterclass cut off any Barcelona attack.
The result leaves Barcelona with another mountain to climb in their home leg. The odds are against the Catalans to mount another PSG-esque comeback against one of the best defenses in Europe.
