Man Utd v Everton: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

Man Utd v Everton: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

After a frustrating goalless draw at the weekend at home to West Brom, Jose Mourinho will be looking for a reaction from his players as United are at risk of losing ground with the Top 4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is available after a 3-match ban for an elbow on Tyrone Mings; United failed to score in 2 of the 3 games Ibrahimovic missed. Utd are unbeaten at Old Trafford since losing to rivals Manchester City in September, a run of 23 games. Mourinho’s side have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 4 league games at Old Trafford. 7 of United’s last 9 league matches have seen Under 2.5 goals. The absence of Paul Pogba and Juan Mata mean United are lacking in attacking quality and so they may struggle to break down a well drilled Everton side on Tuesday evening.

Everton under Ronald Koeman can go level with Mourinho’s men with a win this Tuesday. They have been resurgent in recent weeks, winning 7 of their last 11 with frontman Romelu Lukaku now leading the Premier League goalscorer charts. Koeman experimented with a back 3 in the Merseyside Derby at the weekend but is likely to revert to 4-2-3-1 at Old Trafford. Injuries to Coleman and Funes Mori mean Everton are severely weakened at the back.

Mourinho will be aware of the dangerous Romelu Lukaku running in behind and may be more cautious than usual. He will however, expect his United team to start fast and get an early goal, United have been frustrated on multiple occasions at Old Trafford this season. I think this will be a cagey affair, Everton will be keen to be sure at the back after being somewhat open at Anfield. Under 2.5 goals has landed in 7 of United’s last 9 while they have kept clean sheets in 3 of their last 4 at home. Under 2.5 goals is on the whole priced at 10/11 but is available at an appealing 21/20 with Marathon Bet. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been United’s star man this season and he is 11/10 to mark his return with a goal.
