Ibrahimovic and Mings charged by FA

March 6, 2017Leave a commentBlogBy Tom Kelly

Following the incidents that occurred last weekend, Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Burnley’s Tyrone Mings have both been charged with alleged violent conduct by the FA.

The pair first clashed with one and other just before half-time, as it appeared that the Burnley full-back savagely stamped on the Swedish striker’s head.

This seemed to have sparked the following incident, as both players contested in an aerial dual which saw Mings clutching his face on the floor following an sinister elbow from Zlatan.

Interestingly, referee Kevin Friend dismissed both of these incidents within the game.

However, both players have gone onto protest their innocence. With Mings insisting he accidentally trod on the Swede, while Zlatan claims the Burnley defender “jumped into his elbow”.

Despite these protests of innocence, it’s likely that Zlatan will miss the next three games through suspension, which includes Manchester United’s FA Cup quarter-final fixture against Chelsea.

Whereas, Mings could receive a longer ban because ‘stamping’ is seen to be a more serious offence.

It is understood that both Ibrahimovic and Mings have until 6pm on Tuesday to reply to these charges.
