Slaven Bilic revives a bit of faith at West Ham United
Chelsea booked their place in the FA Cup finals as they swept aside Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 in a pulsating game at Wembley. Chelsea took the lead through a brilliant Willian free-kick. Pedro was fouled by Toby Alderweireld just outside the area following a Chelsea counter and Willian dispatched the free-kick with precision. Tottenham responded almost immediately through a Harry Kane header. Christian Eriksen played in a fantastic cross which Kane headed in towards the far-post. Tottenham dominated proceedings after their equalizer but Chelsea took the lead again from a Willian penalty. Heung Min Son brought down Victor Moses in the area with a clumsy challenge and Willian took advantage.
Dele Alli equalized in the second half but Antonio Conte’s substitutions proved to be the difference. Eden Hazard came on for Willian and restored Chelsea’s lead with a well placed shot towards the far post. Tottenham pushed for an equalizer but Nemanja Matic’s stunning strike from outside of the box sealed Chelsea’s spot in the final while Tottenham’s woes at Wembley continued.
Antonio Conte remains on course for a double in his first season in England.
