Man City v Huddersfield: Pre-Match Analysis
Man City host Huddersfield in this 5th round FA Cup replay after the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at the John Smith Stadium. City are likely to ring the changes here, having been victim of a hectic schedule of late. The likes of Nolito, Navas, Fernando and Delph are likely to feature although Aguero may still lead the line. With the Premier League title looking to be Chelsea’s, Guardiola will be looking to take advantage of a favourable FA Cup draw and secure a trip to Wembley. City seem to have found their groove of late and have won 6 of their last 7 in all competitions. Each of City’s last 5 home games have had Over 2.5 goals.
Huddersfield will prioritise their Championship promotion push and so will make changes this evening. David Wagner’s side host Newcastle at the weekend and have an opportunity to close the gap between themselves and the top 2. He will probably make near 11 changes tonight, with the experienced Mark Hudson captaining the side. With two much changed sides, it is difficult to draw relevance from previous fixtures.
A home Quarter-Final tie against Middlesbrough awaits the winner of this. City are priced at a short 1/8 and it is difficult to see any other outcome. A changed Huddersfield side are unlikely to have the quality to compete with City at the Etihad. Sergio Aguero is a short 1/3 to score anytime compared to an attractive 11/10 to outscore the opposition. If the Argentine does start, I think this is a bet worth looking at. Over 1.5 First Half goals at 10/11 did draw my attention however I expect Huddersfield to sit deep, like in the reverse fixture, aiming to frustrate City.
