England v Lithuania: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

England v Lithuania: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

After an impressive performance in the week in a friendly away to Germany, the Three Lions somehow host Lithuania on the back of a one-nil loss. New boss Gareth Southgate experimented with a back 3 but in the absence of Gary Cahill and Chris Smalling it is possible he will revert to a back 4. Smalling withdrew from the squad at the end of the week and Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson was called up as a replacement. England are yet to concede a goal in World Cup qualification and England/England in the half-time/full-time market has landed in both of their home qualifiers thus far.

Lithuania have won just 1 away game in the last 4 years and that came against San Marino. 9 of their last 10 losses away from home have been to nil and it is difficult to see that changing here. Draws away to Scotland, Poland and Slovenia show Lithuania can remain competitive but England should have too much.

England win to nil is 1/2 while England/England in the Half-Time/Full-Time market is a short 8/15. England -2 is a shade over evens and will almost definitely shorten nearer kick-off. Lithuania lost their last qualifier 4-0 away to Slovakia while they lost a friendly to Czech Republic 3-0 earlier this week, if England score early they will go on to win this comfortably. Adam Lallana to score anytime stands out at 9/5, he’s already scored 2 goals in qualification and you’d have to think he’ll get chances on the evening. The best bet in this one however, could prove to be Jermain Defoe to score 2 or more at 4/1 if he starts. Defoe is a wonderful goalscorer and will probably be on Penalty duty too, if he starts I think this will prove to be a great bet.
