Ireland v Wales: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

March 23, 2017Leave a commentFootball Tips Today, PreviewBy Michael

Ireland v Wales: Pre-Match Betting Analysis:

Wales travel to Dublin and face The Republic of Ireland in this tasty Friday evening World Cup Qualifier. Ireland currently lead Group G and have 10 points from 4 matches. They are unbeaten in their 5 matches since exiting the Euro’s, winning 4 and drawing away to Serbia. You have to go back almost 2 years since Ireland last failed to score at home, a run of 10 games. Robbie Brady will miss out through suspension while Shane Long, who has led the line since Robbie Keane’s retirement, will be assessed nearer kick-off. Martin O’Neil will have further headaches as Shane Duffy, Ciaran Clark, Wes Hoolahan, Harry Arter and Daryl Murphy are all unavailable due to injury.

After an impressive European Championship’s where they reached the Semi-Finals, Chris Coleman’s Wales side have started the World Cup qualification process slowly but are still in with a shout. Wales are unbeaten in 4 matches since their Semi-Final defeat but have drawn each of their last 3, both teams have scored on each occasion. The return of Gareth Bale is a big boost for Coleman, Bale has 4 goals in his last 4 for Wales. Aaron Ramsey and Ben Davies are both available after spells on the sidelines this season. Since their success at the Euro’s, Wales have had to find ways to adapt with opponents trying to nullify their successful 3 at the back system.

Ireland are without players here and the 23/10 offered on Wales seems lengthy, especially with Gareth Bale available. Although they have not picked up the wins, Wales have battled well and have not been beaten. Against a stricken Ireland I think they will have to much and so am happy to take the 23/10 offered. I’d expected Wales to have been shorter, they are 6/5 Draw no Bet if you don’t fancy the risk. Wales have had 5 or corners in 3 of their last 4 while Ireland have conceded 4 or more corners in each of their last 4 games. Wales to have 5+ corners at 5/4 looks a shrewd call at above evens.
