Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane has sustained an ankle injury which is likely to see the target man out of the North London side until the end of the season.
Tottenham’s number 10 sustained the injury playing against London rival’s Millwall in the quarter-final of the FA Cup.
Kane has demonstrated his attacking threat this season as he has managed to score 19 goals for Spurs this season, this accounts to nearly 36% of all Tottenham’s goals this campaign.
The presence of Kane within the attacking front-line will undoubtedly be a miss for Spurs this season. Especially as Tottenham’s second striker Vincent Janssen has recently just scored his first goal from open play since signing from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.
However, Spurs compatriot Eric Dier recognises Harry’s importance within the side but believes they can cope without him following last weekend’s result against Millwall.
A key figure who seemed to step up in the absence of Kane was South Korean international Son Hueng-min. The tricky winger managed to score a hat-trick at White Hart Lane this weekend, with his second goal being contender for goal of the weekend.
Although the South Korean doesn’t usually operate as a striker, his trickiness on both the wings may prove to be too much for some Premier League defences.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino also emphasised his sadness on losing his top goalscorer but attempts to look forward to the future.
“We’ve got a very good squad, we’re on a good run, playing very well at the moment. We’re all very disappointed about Harry’s injury. Hopefully he gets back as quickly as possible because he is very important for us. But as a team we can keep improving and playing this way, keep this run going.”
Kane is expected to have a scan on Wednesday to discover the full extent to his ankle injury.
