Manchester United v Bournemouth: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

Man Utd v Bournemouth: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

Man Utd secured the first domestic trophy of the season last weekend, winning 3-2 at Wembley in the final of EFL Cup. Jose Mourinho’s men have been relentless in recent weeks and have lost just 1 of their last 26 in all competitions. United are unbeaten in their last 16 league games and have lost just 1 of their 23 home matches in all competitions. Henrik Mkhitaryan remains out so United are likely to line up with Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata behind star-man Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Mourinho’s side have the third best home defensive record in the league and have conceded more than a single goal in a game just once at Old Trafford this season. 8 of United’s last 10 home matches in the league have had Under 2.5 goals, they have kept three consecutive clean sheets in the league.

Bournemouth are in a bit of a rot at the moment. The Cherries sit just 4 points clear of the relegation zone and have not won a game in 2017. Eddie Howe’s men have looked especially vulnerable at the back since Nathan Ake returned to Chelsea and are reliant on Josh King going forwards in the absence of their main goal threat Callum Wilson. Bournemouth have conceded 2 or more goals in 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions and have conceded 3 or more goals in 6 of their last 7 away league games, conceding 2 in the other. An in form and buoyant United is not the place Bournemouth would want to be this Saturday and it is difficult to see them reversing their form here.

United -2 at 7/4 is very appealing given Bournemouth’s defensive record since the turn of the year. Moreover, Juan Mata to score and win at 2/1 offers a good alternative to the short priced Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mata is United’s second top goalscorer with 9 goals in all competitions this season.
