Tottenham v Everton: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

Tottenham v Everton: Pre-Match Betting Analysis

Spurs followed up their Europa League disappointment with a comfortable 4-0 victory at home to Stoke last weekend. Harry Kane scored a first half hat-trick, his third domestic hat-trick of 2017. Tottenham sit in 2nd place and have an opportunity to pull away from Arsenal and United who both dropped points this weekend and move nearer to a top 4 finish. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are unbeaten at home this season and have won each of their last 4 home league matches to nil. Jan Vertonghen and Toby Aldeweireld were both substituted last weekend versus Stoke and will both be assessed before kick off. If they are fit it is likely Spurs will continue to operated with a back 3.

Everton are unbeaten in their last 9 league games and have not lost any of their last 5 away from home. Ronald Koeman’s side have really come to the fore in recent weeks, with Ross Barkley looking sharp after heavy criticism while Ademola Lookman and Tom Davies have reinvigorated The Toffees. Everton are reliant on Romelu Lukaku’s goals, the frontman has 17 in the league this season with Seamus Coleman and Barkley next with 4.

I expect this to be a cagey affair with few goals. These sides have been recently matched in recent years, they have drawn their last 3 meetings including the meeting at Goodison Park in August. Spurs have kept 4 consecutive clean sheets at home in the league while 4 of Everton’s last 5 league games have had Under 2.5 goals, as have 4 of their last 5 away games. Under 2.5 goals is an appealing 23/20 with Betfair. Spurs have had 4 or more corners in 12 of their 13 home league matches this season and have had 8 or more in each of their last 3 at White Hart Lane. Everton have had 4 or more corners in 5 of their last 6 away matches. Spurs are very much a corner team, especially when they play with a back 3 meaning their wing-backs can get high up the pitch, Everton also rely on width from their full-backs whom provide early crosses. As a result of this, I think overs on corners are worth noting.
