Everton v Burnley | Betting Tips & Preview

September 29, 2017Leave a commentFootball Tips Today, Premier League, PreviewBy Robbie Coppack

Super Sunday returns as Everton face Burnley at Goodison Park with pressure mounted on Ronald Koeman as Everton failed to beat Greek side Apollon Limassol at Goodison Park on Thursday night.

With only one point from their two opening Europa League games, The Blues have to find some comfort in the Premier League and will look to build on their dramatic 2-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend, courtesy of unlikely hero Oumar Niasse. The Senegal striker was introduced to hammer home the equaliser before hooking home the winner to send the Everton supporters into raptures. However they face a stubborn Burnley side who have already taken five points on their travels so far this season defeating Chelsea, scoring a late equaliser at Wembley to deny Spurs their first home win and then holding Liverpool to a 1-1 draw.

The two sides took three points off each other last season, Burnley scoring a 90th minute winner at Turf Moor when Scott Arfield volleyed home the rebound after Johan Berg Gudmundsson effort initially hit the crossbar and Arfield pounced to make it 2-1. Everton won the return fixture 3-1 thanks to Phil Jagielka, Romulu Lukaku and a Ben Mee own goal, a win that lifted Everton to fifth and made it nine successive home victories for The Blues.

Sky Bet placed Burnley outside the favourites for the drop with Palace (2/3), Brighton (3/2), and Huddersfield (7/4) being the current favourites with The Clarets being priced at 2/1 currently sit as fifth favourites after a bright start to the campaign. Burnley are on a run of four games unbeaten in the Premier League and should fancy their chances against an Everton side which are struggling for confidence.

Burnley will obviously be without Tom Heaton with Nick Pope likely to keep his place between the sticks following an impressive run of games. And Jon Walters is also a doubt after being left out of Republic of Ireland’s squad with a knee injury. Everton are likely to be without Phil Jagielka and former Burnley centre back Michael Keane is touch and go for a reunion with his former team mates. So it’s likely to be a back four again for Everton as they played in midweek.

Burnley’s last win against Crystal Palace resulted in Frank de Boer getting sacked and current odds suggest that the same could happen again if Everton fail to beat Burnley this weekend. Ronald Koeman’s men are languishing in 14th place in the Premier League after losing four of their last six outings and Ladbrokes are offering prices of Koeman to be sacked at 2/9 and are currently offering odds of 11/8 for the Dutchman to leave Everton before the end of the season.

Both teams are struggling for goals with Everton only finding the net four times so far this season and could find it hard again as Burnley have only conceded one goal in their last three Premier League games.

William Hill on their Match Specials are offering 13/2 on Under 2.5 goals, over 12 corners and under four cards. Burnley are very well disciplined under Sean Dyche and his side haven’t been shown more than three yellow cards yet this season. So this offer could be worth a punt as in five of Burnley six games so far this season, over 12 corners have been awarded.
